AIFS is an Australian Government statutory agency in the portfolio of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

What do we do?
We aim to increase the understanding of factors affecting family wellbeing by conducting research and communicating the findings

* researchers and policy-makers and
* the broader community

The Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) is a Melbourne-based Australian Government agency researching the factors affecting family wellbeing in Australia.

We deliver quality research findings to policy makers, service providers and the broader community through our publications, conferences and seminars.

Our Research Program hosts a number of major contract undertakings:

* Growing Up in Australia (the longitudinal study of Australian children)
* the Australian Temperament Project
* the National Child Protection Clearinghouse
* the Australian Centre for the Study of Sexual Assault
* Australian Family Relationships Clearinghouse
* Communities and Families Clearinghouse Australia
* partner with the Closing the Gap Clearinghouse.

AIFS reserves the right to curtail discussions and refuse access, and will remove any content that:

other users might find offensive or threatening;
is or could be interpreted as being racist, sexist, homophobic, ageist or discriminatory in any other way;
may put the Australian Institute of Family Studies in legal jeopardy; or
is obviously commercial, spam or contains sexual content of an inappropriate nature.

The AIFS Facebook page is monitored for content that might infringe privacy, disclose information of a threatening or harmful nature or is offensive, obscene, abusive, racist, sexist, homophobic, ageist, unrelated to the topic at hand, illegal or otherwise unhelpful to respectful and constructive dialogue.
Where moderation is required:

The post will be hidden from public view, with notification provided to the user as a comment to their post.

This process will also be used when content is posted that discloses personal information.

Continual posts of inappropriate material will result in a post from the page as follows:
“We’ve had to remove some posts from our wall that break our moderation guidelines.”

In the case of a user posting continually abusive comments the user will be blocked.
